Bernard Pictet: Crafting Brilliance in Glass

In the realm of glass artistry, the workshop of Bernard Pictet stands as a testament to innovation and creativity. Founded in 1981, this unique glassmaking atelier has evolved over the years, producing astonishing creations that redefine the very essence of glass.

Pictet’s journey is one of continuous exploration and refinement. Initially dedicating a decade to perfecting classical models, he then boldly ventured into a more personal and avant-garde realm. The workshop became a hub for technical experimentation, embracing methods such as engraving, sandblasting, chiseling, and gilding. It is within this creative crucible that Pictet developed a matériauthèque boasting over three hundred motifs, drawing inspiration from contemporary art giants like Pierre Soulages and Anish Kapoor, as well as the intricate beauty of the botanical world.

As the torch has been passed to Aurélie Kostka, the legacy of Bernard Pictet lives on. The workshop proudly positions itself as a Haute-Couture glassmaker, armed with four decades of experience and research in cold glass decoration. Their expertise enables them to not only undertake creative challenges but also navigate the intricate balance between innovation and adherence to safety standards.

The year 2023 marked a series of triumphs for Bernard Pictet’s workshop. From a yacht refit and collaborations with renowned design entities like Reymond Langton Design and Zuretti Design to creating opulent spaces such as a high-luxury apartment in London with Peter Marino Architect and Testimonio in Monaco with Laura Sessa—the portfolio is a testament to the workshop’s versatility and commitment to excellence.

Monumental doors for Dior Couture boutiques in Shanghai and Geneva, a basin reflecting a centennial chandelier for La Mamounia, and contributions to the New Orient Express bar set to be inaugurated in 2024—all these projects underscore the workshop’s involvement in prestigious ventures.

In the workshop of Bernard Pictet, each piece is not merely an object; it is a narrative of dedication, skill, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. The brilliance of Pictet’s glass artistry continues to captivate, providing a glimpse into the harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation that defines this extraordinary atelier.
