Monaco, March 6th, 2024 – Monaco Marina Management is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the 2nd Edition GCC Smart Yachting Days, held under the auspices of Monaco, the Capital of Advanced Yachting. This event, themed “Reinventing Yachting and Marina Development,” took place in Dubai on February 28th and 29th, 2024, symbolizing a crucial step towards promoting sustainable yachting and marinas in the region.

The opening ceremony was graced by Jose Marco Casellini, CEO of M3, accompanied by Bernard D’Alessandri, General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco, and Alexia Ribeiro, representing Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting.

Moderated by Martin Redmayne, the M3 Smart Yachting Days meeting on the first day focused on the GCC region. It brought together key officials such as Captain Mohamed Mohsen, Head of Yacht Marinas Division from Suez Canal – Egypt, as well as experts from Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. The discussions centered on introducing smart concepts, including smart yachting, smart marinas, and smart ownership. The overwhelming consensus emphasized the need for collaboration, communication, and education at all levels across the region, creating a future-proofed yachting ecosystem with seamless regulation, smart destination marinas, sustainable innovative solutions, and a vast network of potential future owners.

Speakers highlighted the importance of fostering a culture and education around sustainable practices, with a focus on initiatives from maritime academies and upcoming educational establishments. There was a shared responsibility among stakeholders and operators to help owners become smarter and more sustainable users. Collaboration with environmental foundations was encouraged to educate and transmit knowledge. Regulators and operators recognized the need for strategic discussions within the GCC to set achievable targets and encourage a new generation of responsible owners, developers, and users.

The second day featured panels from the world of marina and property development, addressing the challenge of balancing sustainability with investor expectations. The discussions emphasized the need for governments and regulatory bodies to incentivize smarter and greener marina construction. The relationship between yacht designers, builders, crew, and marina owners was highlighted as crucial for harmonizing waste management systems and ensuring a holistic approach to sustainability.

A significant announcement on the new M3 Smart Marina certificate was well-received, setting a high standard for excellence in smart and efficient marina operation. The event concluded with a positive note, fostering fruitful exchanges and future collaborations among key players, laying the groundwork for a more responsible yachting industry in the region.

The 2nd Edition of the GCC Smart Yachting Days was supported by the Yacht Club de Monaco, Sindalah, Fichte & Co, GAC, Dry Docks World, Adriatic 42, Burgess, Corinthia Yacht Club, and Venini. Congratulations were extended to startups that participated in the Innovation Pitching Competition, with special recognition to Expedition Zero and HY-Plugs for their groundbreaking solutions in yachting and marina categories, respectively.
