The Rendezvous Rules: Corinthian Spirit Class

Join the Fijian Islands from the 27th to the 30th of August 2024 for an exclusive event featuring sail and motor superyachts of 22 meters and above.

Get ready to set sail for an unforgettable experience in the Fijian Islands from the 27th to the 30th of August 2024. The South Pacific Superyacht Rendezvous invites superyacht owners and enthusiasts to join us for a thrilling series of sailing regattas, where the majestic Mamanuca archipelago serves as the stunning backdrop.

This year’s races will adhere to the Corinthian Spirit Class rules, promoting a relaxed and enjoyable competition. But what exactly is the Corinthian Spirit Class?

In essence, it embodies the spirit of camaraderie and fair play, ensuring that the focus remains on the joy of sailing rather than the intensity of cutthroat competition. The basic rules are straightforward: no spinnakers, Code 0 sails, or mizzen staysails are allowed, jibs must be on furlers or hanks, and each yacht must hold a valid ORCsy Handicap Certificate. Additionally, a crew member familiar with the International Racing Rules of Sailing must be on board.

Races will begin with a staggered start, allowing the fastest yachts to set off last. This format not only levels the playing field but also heightens the excitement as the fleet converges toward the finish line. The decision to follow Corinthian Spirit Class rules reflects our commitment to reducing risks while maximizing enjoyment. It ensures that participants can savor the spectacular scenery and the thrill of the race without undue stress or pressure.

Our chosen racecourse in the Mamanuca Islands is renowned for its beauty and has a proven track record of success, having been used during the annual Fiji Regatta Week. By navigating these picturesque waters, we bring the high standards of legendary events like the Palma Superyacht Cup, the St Barth’s Bucket, and the Giorgio Armani Regatta to the local Fijian waters.

So, mark your calendars and prepare your sails. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a superyacht owner seeking a leisurely race experience, the South Pacific Superyacht Rendezvous promises an event where the spirit of friendly competition and the joy of sailing reign supreme. See you on the water!
