Palm Beach International Boat Show: A Century of Lürssen in the Americas

March 2026

Lürssen will present a selection of its latest deliveries at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, showcasing the diversity of design and breadth of size that define the German shipyard. The largest yacht on display at this year’s show will also be a Lürssen. Specialists in the construction and refit of large custom yachts from 70 metres and above, Lürssen has been building yachts for more than 150 years. A family owned company now in its fourth generation, the shipyard has delivered some of the most iconic yachts currently in operation. Engineering innovation has defined Lürssen since its founding in 1875, attracting clients from the Americas for over a century.

On display at the show will be the 78.4 metre ROCINANTE, delivered in 2008 and subsequently refitted by Lürssen. Her exterior styling by Espen Øino International has proven timeless. She is presented by Y.CO.

At the Lürssen stand, models of four recent deliveries will also be showcased: the 78.2 metre ODISEA, the 82 metre HAVEN, the 142.08 metre DRAGONFLY, and a 102.4 metre yacht, hull number 13785, nearing delivery this summer. Each project has been designed and engineered to the exacting specifications of its owner. No two yachts that leave the shipyard are ever the same. This is the defining characteristic of a true custom builder.

What connects these yachts is not a shared design language, but a commitment to engineering excellence, exceptional project management, and world class craftsmanship. The Lürssen fleet is also distinguished by increasingly ambitious architectural glass solutions.

ODISEA introduces a new Beach House concept, where the traditional main salon is replaced by a glass encased lounge, creating a direct and immersive connection with the sea. Another recent build features an industry first. A semi suspended glass pool, six metres wide, extends over the swim platform and is conceived as an architectural space rather than a simple amenity. With DRAGONFLY, Lürssen goes even further. She is the first yacht built without traditional glass stiffeners, the metal fittings typically required to support and secure glass panels. The result is a completely seamless appearance, where windows and sliding doors become visually indistinguishable, creating a refined and uninterrupted exterior. Lürssen remains the only shipyard in the world with Class certification to build yacht windows and sliding doors without stiffeners. Glass and steel are engineered simultaneously, never as an afterthought.

“Lürssen has long been the quiet leader in innovation and technical achievements in yacht building,” says Timothy Hamilton.
“In recent history, we have seen the number of yachts we are building for the US market grow substantially. Each project benefits from the development of the previous one, resulting in increasingly complex and sophisticated yachts.”

This month alone, Lürssen has delivered two new yachts: the 78.2 metre ODISEA and the 134.22 metre MY DEEP BLUE, currently the largest yacht delivered in 2026. Several additional deliveries are scheduled throughout the year, further reinforcing the shipyard’s position at the forefront of the industry.

Lürssen Refit & Services has been equally active on both sides of the Atlantic. The shipyard operates one of the world’s largest refit centres in Hamburg, spanning 451,000 square metres, including a large dry dock, six floating docks, and 2,100 metres of pier length.

The site has recently welcomed close to half a kilometre of yachts for major refits, with a combined volume exceeding 25,000 GT, comparable in scale to Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The portfolio includes both motor and sailing yachts, from Lürssen and other leading shipyards.

Much like its new build division, Lürssen Refit & Services specialises in large, complex and technically demanding projects for yachts over 70 metres. Recent works include the integration of advanced diesel electric propulsion systems into vessels with more than two decades of operational history, as well as the installation of folding masts capable of reducing a yacht’s height by nearly six metres.

Lürssen’s Fast Operations and Repair Unit has been extensively active across the Americas over the past year. Available around the clock and deployable worldwide, the team inspects, manages and maintains large yachts wherever they are, at sea, at anchor, or in port, regardless of where they were originally built. It is yet another component of a comprehensive, end to end ownership approach that defines the Lürssen experience.ends as a one-of-one masterpiece.
