Honouring Passionate Leaders: The Honours 2024 at the Monaco Yacht Show
Nick Entwisle: Philanthropy Honoured at MYS !
As the recipient of the prestigious Bowsprit Award at The Honours 2024, Nick Entwisle stands out in the superyacht community for his exceptional contributions and commitment to social impact.
Nick’s passion for yachting began at 11 during a family holiday in North Wales. As he neared retirement, he founded Yachting Gives Back, a charity supporting vulnerable populations in Mallorca. Mobilizing his network, he partnered with Pinmar for resources and collaborated with local charities like Mallorca Sense Fam and Tardor, making a significant difference in the community.
A standout moment for Yachting Gives Back occurred when the captain of the 96m yacht Palladium rallied his crew to deliver 26 bags of food, gaining traction on social media and increasing awareness for the charity.
Since its inception, Yachting Gives Back has expanded its beneficiaries to include organizations like Es Refugi and SOS Mamas, supporting mothers and children. Notably, the charity funds a part-time psychologist at Es Refugi, helping residents reintegrate into the workforce.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nick’s charity gained further momentum with significant donations from Medical Support Off Shore (MSOS). He acknowledges, “Those financial donations have been essential,” as they help address urgent needs within the community. With nearly a quarter of the Balearic Islands’ population at risk of poverty, the importance of initiatives like Yachting Gives Back cannot be overstated. Nick believes the superyacht industry has a responsibility to give back, stating, “We can easily give something back to this beautiful island community we call home.”
Nick Entwisle’s journey and Yachting Gives Back’s mission will resonate throughout the event, highlighting the power of philanthropy and the potential for positive change in the superyacht industry.
